Movie Time Snacks Board: The Perfect Addition to Your Movie Night

Make movie night everyone’s favorite night of the week with this Movie Night Snacks Board from https://www.movieandfood.com, loaded with popcorn, pretzels, and candy!

Introduction

As an introverted indoors-loving kinda girl, movie nights have always been my favorite kind of nights. What is better than curling up with a soft blanket, a scented candle, your favorite snacks, and a great movie with your friends or family? I like to make it even better with this charcuterie board that is pretty much a guaranteed hit! I filled this board up with all my favorite movie snacks, which mostly consists of sweet treats. If you want to get a little sweet and salty, fill your board up with whatever you and your family love!

The Centerpiece of Your Board: Popcorn

The centerpiece of this board is popcorn. You can go with store bought, make your own buttery creation at home, or make a flavored popcorn, like my Peanut Butter Popcorn. I find it’s easiest to start with a popcorn centerpiece. Place your popcorn in the center and spread it out toward a corner. If you have a popcorn tub, put that in the corner so it looks like the popcorn is “falling” out of it. If you are using 2 types of popcorn, either mix them together or place them at separate corners to meet in the middle.

Arranging Your Snacks

Artfully arrange the candy and pretzels to frame the popcorn. Keep in mind the candy colors – try to keep chocolates away from each other and break them up with something bright, like Dots or Gummy Worms. If you like things a bit cleaner, try putting each item in their own small bowl and serving that on a platter. Any of these items would be good if you want to switch things up for your board! The most important question!

What Snacks to Add

  • Popcorn. Butter popcorn is always needed with a great movie. You can make it yourself or get it from the store.
  • Flavored popcorn. You can use my Peanut Butter Popcorn linked above, or you can use caramel corn or cheddar popcorn.
  • Pretzels. I opted for chocolate covered pretzels, but you can use plain if you prefer, or make them yourself with melted chocolate chips.
  • Candy. You will need 6 types of candy to fill the board, and you can use whatever you love. I recommend using a variation of chocolatey and fruity candies so you can break up the colors and the board doesn’t all wash together. You want to impress visually!
  • Buffalo chicken dip.
  • Cheese slices and cured meats for a more traditional charcuterie.
  • Rice Krispie Treats. Try my Fruity Pebbles version!
  • Potato Chips.
  • Chex mix.
  • Any Star Wars movie. While I am a millennial and therefore partial to the prequels, these on your board would go great with a family viewing of The Empire Strikes Back!
  • Any Marvel movie. Endgame is a common rewatch in my house.
  • Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and The Princess Bride are all options you can’t go wrong with.
  • Your favorite Disney princess movie – my favorite is Beauty and the Beast. For more modern animated movies, Encanto or Turning Red.
  • YOUR favorite movie! Mine is Attack of the Clones, and I will be taking no arguments at this time.

Recipe for Movie Time Snacks Board

Ingredients

  • 1 batch of popcorn
  • 1 batch of flavored popcorn (cheddar, caramel, peanut butter, etc)
  • 6 different candy boxes of your choice (typical movie theater sized boxes of candy). Try a variation of chocolate and fruit candies for different colors
  • Pretzels (chocolate covered or plain)

Instructions

  1. Start by placing popcorn in the center and spreading it out to the edge. If you are using 2 types of popcorn, either mix them together or have them coming in from 2 different corners. For the best look, have the popcorn “falling” out of a red and white popcorn tub.

  2. Use your creativity to arrange the candy and pretzels in piles on the board. Try separating chocolate/brown items with fruity/colored items so the board doesn’t blend together.

  3. Serve while watching your favorite movie!
